AIS teams with Bangkadi Industrial Park to install digital infrastructure 5G primes "smart industrial park" to attract long-term investment

12 October 2020: AIS continues to build strength into technological infrastructure supporting management of the Thai industrial sector. Its latest project is to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to develop 5G solutions at Bangkadi Industrial Park, Pathum Thani. The agreement will support the upgrading of factories at the park to keep abreast of changes and give them a competitive edge in manufacturing for the industrial sector. It will also generate confidence among foreign investors to strongly drive the national economy.

Somchai Lertsutiwong, Chief Executive Officer of AIS noted, "This year, AIS has put aside network investment budgets of about 35 billion baht. We hope to bring the capabilities of a robust digital infrastructure to benefit the country, particularly in support of the industrial sector, as a crucial mechanism to revive Thailand. The potential of 5G technology will efficiently speed up the process of adaptation in the management of various departments, increasing productivity and reducing costs. In this collaboration, AIS brings its competency in infrastructure to support management, manufacturing and public utility systems at Bangkadi Industrial Park. This includes fixed and mobile technology, as well as 5G, to support complete solutions. These comprise platforms to connect and aggregate data, as well as front ends and back ends supporting all involved to operate their businesses at Bangkadi Industrial Park."

Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul Chair Person of Bangkadi Industrial Park commented, "For the last 33 years, Bangkadi Industrial Park has developed in terms of the environment, energy and economic support for the local economy, with good cooperation from government agencies, local bodies and local people. There has also been partnership with leading Thai companies, with the result that Bangkadi Industrial Park has now been announced a Level 5 Eco Industrial Park by the Ministry of Industry, as an industrial park close to its community. This cooperation with AIS is a key factor in upgrading the industrial sector following the recent crisis. The potential of AIS' digital infrastructure, both fiber optics and 5G technology, will play a part in the process of adapting technology to support our work, and will efficiently increase the capabilities of factories in various industries at this location. It will also lead to entirely new and improved work processes."

Bangkadi Industrial Park was founded in 1990 and is located on Tiwanon Road, Bangkadi, Pathum Thani on a site of over 1,200 rai. It was the first private Industrial Park in Thailand supporting foreign investors to expand the manufacturing base in Thailand and create jobs for Thai people. It currently contains over 40 factories employing over 20,000 people.
