There are several speed test providers on the network today and the most important factor in ascertaining accurate testing results as a reference of network quality and reflecting real internet speed requires an adequate number of test samples representing a large percentage of the population. Ookla Speedtest is the only internet speed test that requires a sample population of at least 3% in each location to optimize precise and accurate outcomes. In addition, Ookla Speedtest uses a reliable methodology to assess the speed score of the internet network and provides speedtest global ranking and speedtest awards transparently by allowing all users to access the results via its dedicated website.

Other speed test providers are still in their infancy and have inadequate test samples to truly represent the population. Some speed test providers do not identify the source and number of test samples, giving rise to inaccurate and unreliable testing results.

More importantly, their speed tests cannot demonstrate the real internet speeds, which means test consumers obtain inaccurate data that doesn’t reflect their real experience.

Mr. Pratthana Leelapanang, AIS's Chief Consumer Business Officer, says that AIS is constantly working to enhance all aspects of the network capabilities. The company is moving to develop advanced technologies that will allow Thais to experience similar speeds and efficiency to countries considered the global leaders in innovations. In addition, AIS is preparing its networks to meet the ever-growing usage by all customer segments.

“We are very glad to receive the Thailand’s Fastest Mobile Network Award from Ookla Speedtest for the fourth consecutive year. It is a guarantee of quality from a leading global organization that provides the most accurate, transparent and reliable speedtest. On behalf of all its staff, AIS would like to thank the more than 40 million mobile phone users nationwide who trust the AIS service,” Mr. Pratthana said.

Speedtest Awards for top providers in speed are determined using a Speed Score that incorporates a measure of each provider’s download and upload speed to rank network speed performance. To determine Speedtest Awards winners for mobile networks, Ookla® assesses the average of test results taken using Modern Devices. Modern Devices includes all mobile tests, regardless of connection technology used, as long as they are taken on devices that are identified as being capable of achieving the fastest speeds available in a market. After this filtering has taken place, Speed Score is applied as outlined above to determine the best speeds available in a country. Each top carrier accounts for at least 3% of the sample size in the geographic area.

Overall, we have the fastest speeds from tests taken with Speedtest which we have a report and result of each countries for all to review on Ookla Website for the advantages of consumer to see the qualitative data of the speedtest including and for improving the communication technology” Mr. Suttles said.
