AIS makes 3rd installment payment for the first batch of 700MHz spectrum license Building Ecosystem Economy through developing digital infrastructure Stressing Leadership position with the most complete and widest bandwidth of 1460 MHz for every use cases
Advanced Wireless Network Co., Ltd. (AWN), part of Advanced Info Service plc. (AIS), paid the third installment of licence fee for the first batch of 700 MHz spectrum, an amount of 1,835,478,000 THB (1 billion, eight-hundred and thirty-five million, four hundred and seventy-eight thousand baht) inclusive of Value Added Tax to the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). This is counted as revenue for the state to develop the national digital infrastructure.
AIS Chief Executive Somchai Lertsutiwong said, “We are totally committed to utilize the spectrum won from the auction for the ongoing benefits of customers, the Thai public and the Thai nation. Combining with the partnership with NT (subject to NBTC approval), a total 40 MHz of the 700 MHz spectrum (Downlink 20 MHz and Uplink 20 MHz) will be available for utilization. Together with existing spectrum in hand, AIS remains the undisputed leader holding the most spectrum bandwidth in the industry to provide 4G and 5G services. The total 1460 MHz including spectrum from partnership covers every use cases from retail customers to large-scale enterprises.”
Somchai underlined that, “We will continue to invest in enhancing the capabilities of our spectrum to achieve our goal of becoming a Cognitive Tech-Co, a provider of intelligent telecom services. We are dedicated to rolling out a resilient digital infrastructure with international standards. This year, we have allocated investment budgets of 27,000 - 30,000 MB to foster the growth of a mutually collaborative Ecosystem Economy, which will deliver optimal digital experiences to our customers.”
