AIS partners with FTI to unlock the potential of intelligent 5G networks Upgrading the Thai manufacturing industry with the AIS 5G Manufacturing Platform Enhancing operators' capabilities with one-stop digital transformation

Leveling up SMEs on the Industry 4.0 Platform is a key factor in upgrading factories. From monitoring the status of machinery, energy usage and measuring Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) inreal time, to connecting to machinery in real time, the connector is a platform, and the platform is a tool to provide data to improve the factory. Upgrades have a firm direction and lead to real improvements. The platforms currently used in Industry 4.0 are somewhat expensive. The Federation of Thai Industry (FTI) therefore has the objective givingSMEs access to these platforms at affordable prices, which led to this partnership with AIS.

AIS is an operator that is continuing apace with leveraging the potential of intelligent 5G networks to upgrade the industry and underline its leadership of digital services and solutions. These are the most widely recognized among business enterprises in the industrial sector and SMEs and are on hand to connect every sector to generate mutual growth in the ecosystem economy. At latest, AIS has signed an MoU with the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) with a core target of supporting the operators of medium to small sized factories. The agreement will enable SMEs to unlock new capabilities to reduce costs and boost efficiency of production lines and machinery. This includes boosting accuracy of analysis, measurement, and monitoring systems with digital tools of the Internet of Things (IoT), offering AIS 5G Manufacturing Platform solutions on the PARAGON Platform.

AIS Chief Executive Somchai Lertsutiwong noted, “It is because we are confident that 5G is the essential motor for industry, and a growth engine for the digital economy, that we bid for the most possible 5G spectrum in recent auctions. We are also on track with our ongoing investments to build resilience into our digital infrastructure, a key foundation of the mutualistic ecosystem economy. Achieving this goal involves ongoing collaborations with every sector. On this occasion, we are extremely proud to be working with the FTI again by deploying our digital platforms and connecting SMEs in the manufacturing sector. They can now manage their digital transformation in one place. This not only enables leveling up competitive capabilities by cutting costs and leveraging the opportunities from new business models for future growth, but also gives companies the strength to compete internationally.”

The AIS 5G Manufacturing Platform runs on the PARAGON Platform, a 5G platform that brings together 5G management, Edge Computing, Cloud and Applications in a one-stop service. This can be self-adjusted to align with the attributes of the business and budgets available in each period, and it runs alongside IoT technology powered by a 5G Private Network. This can meet manufacturing challenges and deal with production line issues for the industrial sector in real time. It is also one-stop because the AIS 5G Manufacturing Platform can measure efficiency and monitor the operation of machinery to reduce management costs, promote a competitive edge, and enable operators to manage their businesses sustainably. The capabilities of the platform include:

  • Machine Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of machinery in real time
  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Monitoring & Manufacturing Execution System (MES), which are a core concern for the industrial sector. Systematic monitoring and reporting on production lines is carried out in detail, with accuracy.
  • Energy Management is a system for monitoring the energy usage of various machinery, both during operations and in down time, enabling analysis and improvements to electrical power usage.

Kriengkrai Thiennukul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries commented, “The FTI is a key organization supporting the Thai industrial sector and SMEs operators. Our membership base covers 45 industrial sectors. FTI’s mission is to enhance resilience for Thai industry, strengthen Thailand, and power the sector to Industry 4.0. This collaboration with AIS will enable SMEsto deploy the AIS 5G Manufacturing Platform to manage factory systems and boost competitive capabilities. Manufacturing processes will be made more efficient, which will eventually level up Thai industry to Industry 4.0.”
