AIS pays Tranche 7 of 900MHz licence fee on the way to becoming Cognitive Telco Investing 30-35,000 MB on 5G to support Thais' digital adventures in the Metaverse

18 July 2022: Somchai Lertsutiwong, Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Info Service plc. (AIS), acting as an executive of Advanced Wireless Network Co., Ltd. (AWN), licensee of the 900 MHz spectrum for a total sum of 75,654 MB, represented the company in making payment of the 7th tranche for the 900 MHz spectrum of 8,094,978,000 THB (eight billion, ninety-four million, nine hundred and seventy-eight thousand baht only) including Value Added Tax. The payment was accepted by Clinical Prof. Dr. Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck, Chairman, National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) which will be forwarded to the national treasury for future national development.

Somchai noted, "Our plan to become a Cognitive Telco continues to advance with investments of 30,000-35,000 MB to expand the capabilities of 5G to create digital experiences for Thai customers with Metaverse innovations. These will open up new opportunities for a wide range of industries, as well as supporting the growth of mobile phones, high-speed internet, services for enterprise customers and digital services."

Somchai reiterated, "Since Q1 of this year, Thailand has clearly faced a number of extremely challenging situations, both domestically and internationally. However, we will continue investing in the rollout of the 5G network to benefit every sector. We believe that digital tech is infrastructure to underwrite national growth that is both long-term and sustainable. AIS has now proven that we have transformed from a mere mobile telephone provider to a purveyor of digital services.
