30 August 2021: Football Association of Thailand (FAT), with Thai League Co., Ltd. and leading partners Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., Osotspa PCL, Blue Dragon Holdings Ltd and Advanced Info Service Plc. (AIS) are launching the Thai League 2021/2022 season, in tiers 1-3 of professional Thai football competition. It is a New Era of Thai football with many eye-catching changes for the Thai fans: A new fixture calendar to extend the season into next year, an exciting new crop of upcoming young stars replacing older players at many clubs, and finally, a new experience of watching matches to get every detail through the Thai Football Platform, available for free on all channels of AIS PLAY.

Pol Gen Somyot Poompanmoung, President of the Football Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage (FAT) noted, “This is a vital step for kicking off the new season. We must thank club executives and all of our partners who have committed to Thai football in these testing times. FAT remains determined to deliver the maximum opportunities for Thai football fans to watch the action for free through every channel or device, from mobile phone to TV, at home or online. This year’s Thai League will be historic for Thai football with a huge array of viewing choices building the Thai Football Platform. It will upgrade the viewing experience and make Thai football more international.

“This year’s competitions will be inaugurated with a grand launch under strict measures to contain Covid-19. REVO Thai League, the M-150 Championship and the Bluedragon League will generate excitement among the supporters, and should go some way to cheering up Thai football fans in the present situation.”

The Thai League has been restructured this season under “New Era” thinking, to propel Thai football forward with 4 key new features:

  • A New Era with a new fixtures calendar taking matches into the new year, with more fun football to watch.
  • New blood and the advent of Golden Age with the next generation of players set to battle for victory. Many clubs have a new crop of rising stars ready for action.
  • A new viewing experience: With the Thai Football Platform, Thai football can be watched online or on TV for free on all channels of AIS PLAY. The coverage will also include better Infotainment and stats for fans to enjoy the game as if they were at the touchline.
  • A new footballing culture: Thai football will be an inter-provincial cultural ambassador with colorful exchanges in each province.

Korawee Prissananantakul, CEO of Thai League Co Ltd, spoke about this year's launch of the Thai League. “This is a New Era for Thai football which we have improved in many areas, despite the difficulty in organizing matches. Without doubt, Thai football will be well worth following. As well as the fierce competition in every professional league with the championship as the prize, we will see clubs representing Thailand at the international level, which is no less exciting. Our live coverage has been fully expanded to online channels with quality telecasts by AIS PLAY. We have also recruited OPTA to supply in-depth stats to spice up the viewing.”

The highlight of the Thai League this year is collaboration with partners to take Thai football to the next level with competitions no less stronger than in normal times, starting with the REVO Thai League, the T1 tier of 16 teams fighting for the Thai League's highest crown.

The M-150 Championship will have an exciting year with 18 teams from every region of the country duking it out over 360 matches for the Championship title. The Bluedragon League will be the battlefield of hopes and dreams, of starting at the provincial grass roots and progressing to the highest level.

Pratthana Leelapanang, Chief Consumer Business Officer at AIS commented, “AIS is extremely proud to be part of elevating Thai football in this New Era. We’ll be bringing all the action to Thai fans everywhere with our reach through AIS PLAY. It is a platform for Thai football through every channel, every format, and at any time, avoiding limitations on spectators during the pandemic. We will deliver the best and most satisfying viewing experience for free, and we are confident Thai football fans will enjoy the novel experience of watching the best Full HD picture on AIS PLAY.

“Besides supporting Thai football by bringing content to fans, AIS will continue to develop the Thai Football Platform as the complete hub for watching Thai football. We will continue to seek out premium sports content to make AIS PLAY the number one sports channel in Thailand.”
