Report on Readiness to Tackle Y2K Problems (No.5) Advanced Info Service Plc. Introduction Advanced Info Service Plc. operates its core business providing mobile phone services, Cellular 900 and Digital GSM, which have been granted concessions from the Telephone Organization of Thailand (TOT). The headquarter is located at 1291/1 Shinawatra Tower 2, Phaholyothin Road, Sam Sen Nai, Phayathai, Bangkok 10400, Telephone # 299-6194, Fax # 299-6211. The company would like to report its implementation to solve the Y2K problem No. 5, with the data ended on the 30th June, 1999. Preparation for readiness on the Y2K problem 1. Problem Solving during the past period. The company has tested and corrected the systems to solve the Y2K problem as follow: 1.1 Computer Systems 1.1.1 Customer Administration and Billing Computer System (CUBICS) is the operation system for mobile telephone customers serving countrywide. - SUN E10000, E6000, E3500, E450 computer systems and operating system including database systems have been tested and passed the Y2K problem. - CUBICS application programs have passed the unit tests and the integration tests for all 11 modules: Service Provisioning, Inventory, Billing, International Roaming, Debt Management, Collection, Clearing House, Customer Care, Retail, Phonerent and Prepaid system. - For the International Roaming integration test, the company has finished our own testing with other operators who are ready. We have to spare the time and resources for testing with other individual IR operators abroad, some operators cannot fix and complete the test within June. The company has to prepare another system separately for IR testing when each operator is ready. To complete testing with every IR operators, it may last until the end of 1999. - The contingency plans have been developed to support in case of major Y2K impact especially the customer services like: New customer registration, changes, reconnect, renew, pending, cancellation, International Roaming process, Billing, Clearing House, Airtime and Fee collection, Call Center and Service Centers. The working teams have defined the plans and operation processes to minimize the customer impact. These are completed 100 %. 1.1.2 Back-office system is for controlling goods, warehousing, selling goods to distribution channels, cost accounting, accounting and personnel administration. - HP computer systems and operating systems including database systems have been tested and passed the Y2K. - All SAP programs in every module have been tested and passed the Y2K. - The contingency plans have been developed and completed. 1.1.3 Service Center system is the information system for supporting the mobile phone customers who want to repair their mobile phones. We migrated from the PC, Lan, Standalone systems to the Unix online system using the SUN E10000 system, same as CUBICS since January 1999. - SUN E10000 computer system and operating system including database system have been tested and passed the Y2K problem. - Service Center application programs have been tested and passed the Y2K as plan. - The contingency plans have been developed and completed. 1.1.4 Call Center system is the system for providing services to customers who call to ask for any information about mobile phones, usage information, transmission, exchanges problems information, marketing and promotion information. - NT computer servers and all equipments have been tested and passed the Y2K. - Call Center system programs including the PABX system have been tested and passed the Y2K as plan. - The contingency plans have been developed and completed. 1.1.5 Office Automation systems; Intranet and Extranet systems which are the communication tools to help the company for countrywide communications. - SUN E3500, E450 computer systems, system programs including the Oracle database systems have been tested and passed the Y2K. - The Web pages, Email, Calendar, Online approval and other application systems have been tested and passed the Y2K. - The contingency plans have been developed and completed. 1.1.6 Data Warehousing system is the information system that stores and analyze information for the marketing team. - SUN E6000 and SGI servers, system programs including the database systems have been tested and passed the Y2K. - Application programs and data have been tested and passed the Y2K. - The contingency plans have been developed and completed. 1.1.7 Fraud Management system is the information system that preventing the mobile phone fraud usages. - Digital 8400 computer systems, system programs including the database system have been tested and passed the Y2K. - Fraud management programs and data have been tested and passed the Y2K. - The contingency plans have been developed and completed 100%. 1.1.8 Optical Filing system is the online document storage and retrieval system for mobile phone customer documents tracking. - Digital 4100 computer systems, Optical Jukebox systems, system programs and the database system have been tested and passed the Y2K. - Optical Filing programs and data have been tested and passed the Y2K. - The contingency plans have been developed and completed 100%. 1.1.9 Personal Computers upgrade. For Y2K non-compliance old PCs, the company has finished upgrading PCs for the head office, outlets and upcountry branches and all telewiz shops in Bangkok area since March. The upcountry telewiz shops' PCs are upgraded since May. 1.2 Telecommunication exchange and Engineering systems consisting of 1.2.1 Ericsson Systems. - NMT MTX. 100 % complete. - GSM MSC & BSC. 100 % complete. - NMT OSS(TMOS). 100% complete. - GSM OSS(TMOS). 100% complete. - VAD TMOS. 100% complete. - ERIPAX system. 100% complete. 1.2.2 Nokia Systems. - NMT MTX. 100% complete. - GSM MSC&BSC. 100% complete. - NMT OSS. 100% complete. - GSM OSS. 100% complete. - DX200 OMC. 100% complete. 1.2.3 Siemens Systems - GSM Switching&BSC. 100% Complete. - GSM OSS. 100% complete. - SDH EMOS. 100% complete. 1.2.4 Mediation Device (Comptel) - CDR-NMT 100% complete. - CDR-GSM. 100% complete. - SAS-NMT. 100% complete. - SAS-GSM. 100% complete. 1.2.5 Short Message Service Center (Aldiscon/Antech) - 100% complete. 1.2.6 VM/PPS (Comverse) - 100% complete. 1.2.7 Interactive Voice Response system (Periphonics). - 100% complete. 1.2.8 Internet Server. - 100% complete. 1.2.9 SIM Support System. - 100% complete. 1.2.10 SIS Support System. - 100% complete. 1.3 Office system 1.3.1 Elevators, Alarm systems, printers, fax machines, phone equipments, Access Control Systems. The company have contacted and received the confirmation letters from those vendors to be Y2K compliance. 2. Expenses. Due to the main computer system investments have been done continuously to support the new types of services the company provides to customers since 1996. The direct Y2K budget has been set up for 50 million baht. The Y2K expenses as of June 30, 1999 are 21,567,020.63 baht as follow: 2.1 PC Upgrade for Advanced Wireless Marketing expenses 908,000 baht 2.2 PC Upgrade for Advanced Info Service expenses 7,052,000 baht 2.3 PC Upgrade for Telewiz shops 3,397,250 baht 2.4 Fraud Management System 5,852,892.83 baht 2.5 SIM System 3,456,877.80 baht 2.6 Y2K Card 900,000 baht 3. Plan for solving the problem At present, the company has completed all phases. The detail plans for solving the problem have been developed with the full cooperation from every business unit, within and across the organization to be able to solve all the problems promptly with no or least impact to customers and business. All the master plans have been defined and completed in all details. The company Y2K special team will be 100% standby starting on December 31, 1999 until January 1, 2000 to solve all the problems happened using the predefined procedures, systems and resources and make sure that if any problems happen, we can solve those in time with no impact to customers. 3.1 Year 2000 Project Implementation Advanced Info Service Plc. Analysis and Explanation from Management The company's readiness to tackle the Y2K problem has been completed in this quarter. With full cooperation from staff, computer and telecommunication vendors, we can solve every problem in time. The on-going activities which the company has to push continuously until year end are to boost the staff awareness, let everyone help in testing, verifying, solving and finding better ways to solve and protect these Y2K problems. The paid expense is 21,567,020.63 baht from the total budget of 50 million baht.. The Implementation Progress to solve the problem for Advanced Paging Company Limited (APG) Introduction Advanced Paging Co Ltd., concessionnaire of the business on distribution and service of pager under the name of PHONELINK, having the headquarters at Shinawatra building, Tower 2, No. 1291/1 Phaholyothin Road, Sam Sen Nai sub-district, Phayathai district, Bangkok Metropolis 10400, Telephone # 299-6444, Fax # 299-6446, would like to report on preparation for readiness to support the Y2K problem No. 5, which the information ended on June 30, 1999. Problem Solving during the past period. 1. Main Computer System (152) 1.1 Paging System - Network Operating System, File Servers and 152 Applications for both BKK centers are Y2K compliance. - Paging System (152) for upcountry offices have been upgraded and tested to be Y2K compliance. 1.2 Business Application System (BAS) - Backup server has been implemented and tested to be Y2K compliance. - The production server has been patch on OS. - The BAS Application is already passed the Y2K test. 1.3 Invoice Printing System - Laser Printer using Siemen 2090 has no impact from the Y2K problem. - PC controlling the printing process has no impact from the Y2K problem. - Envelope Folding Machine has no impact from the Y2K problem. 1.4 Value Added Service - Stock Alert System has no impact from the Y2K problem. - The 153 System has no impact from the Y2K problem. - MoneyLink System has no impact from the Y2K problem. - Internet Service System has no impact from the Y2K problem. - Email Alert System has no impact from the Y2K problem. - CDROM Page System has no impact from the Y2K problem. - IVR System providing the automatic billing inquiry service has no impact from the Y2K problem. 1.5 Network's equipment - Router Equipment have been upgraded the firmware to support Y2K. - Terminal Server of Annex Terminal Server was changed its firmware. - Satellite System of Acumen and Samart has no impact from the Y2K problem. - Ethernet Hub, Switching Hub, LAN Card, Modem and Multiplexer have no impact from the Y2K problem. - Optic Mux has no impact from the Y2K problem. 1.6 Paging System - Glenayre 3000 XL (Version 5.02) have been tested and no problem found. - Glenayre 3000 Model M, S and ES (Version 5.01) have been tested and implemented by setting the date backward and found no impact from Y2K. - C2000 has no impact from the Y2K problem. 2. Telephone Exchange Cabinet System 2.1 PABX Model Definity G3r4 and G3iV3 has no impact from the Y2K problem. 2.2 PABX Model Definity G3rV2 needs to be patched, anticipated to be completely done in 23 April 1999. 2.3 PABX Model Panasonic KXT-1232 has no impact from the Y2K Problem. 2.4 CMS R3V2 have been set the date backward and find it works properly. No impact from the date. 3. Electronic System 3.1 UPS - Emerson (Libert) has no impact on the Y2K problem - Comet (MGE) has no impact on the Y2K problem - Iwatec (Wartford) has no impact on the Y2K problem - Leonic (Leonic) has no impact on the Y2K problem - Powertronic (Shinabis) has no impact on the Y2K problem - Siemens (Watford) has no impact on the Y2K problem - Socomec (Unitrio) has no impact on the Y2K problem 3.2 Generator - Petbow (U-Gen) has no impact on the Y2K problem - Dale (Dale) has no impact on the Y2K problem - Thai-Gen (Thai-Gen) has no impact on the Y2K problem - Onan (Diethelm) has no impact on the Y2K problem - Cummins (Diethelm) has no impact on the Y2K problem 4. Office System 4.1 Computer - For hardware that can not running through year 2000, will be installed a software or hardware card to help in role over year 2000. - OS and Software require the version upgrade, has been done and tested. 4.2 Other office systems do not have the impact form the Y2K problem. 5. External Work Unit 5.1 The response from all related external work units are ready to tackle the Y2K problem. 5.2 We co-operate to the related external work units in answering about our Y2K readiness. 6. Contingency Plan The Y2K committee started preparing the contingency plan into 3 parts. 6.1 Flow of the relate systems. 6.2 List of Y2K dream team included name and contact number of person who response and concern to each system. 6.3 Plan in each system in case problem occurs. 7. Analysis and Explanation from Management The preparation to handle the Y2K problem is now 100% complete. APG passed the testing and final implementation phase as plan since May 1999. All the computer systems, telephone exchange cabinet system, electronic system and office systems have been verified to be Y2K compliance. The contingency plans have been in place. The paid expense is 8,310,000 baht. Verification of Data We have already checked all the text and data present in this report form and hereby certify that they are correct and completed.
