4.Analysis and Explanation from Management
The company gains a lot of progress in preparation for readiness to tackle
the Y2K problem in this quarter in term of correction,testing and contingency
plan development phases compare to the previous quarter.As the total picture,
that the company has performed more than 85%; all the major systems that
have direct impact to customers and business. The remaining parts are less
significant but very important. To complete the full detail and verify and
test to have 100% confident that there will be no impact and there are the
backup plan to maintain the service level to customers as much as possible.
The on-going activities which the company has to push continuously until
year end are to boost the staff awareness, let everyone help in testing,
verifying, solving and finding better ways to solve and protect these Y2K
problems.
For the exchanges equipments and engineering parts, every vendor has
committed and given the company full support to be able to fix every problem
and comply Y2K as planned within June 1999
The paid expense is 23,686,142.83 baht from the total budget of 50 million
baht..
The Implementation Progress to solve the problem for Advanced Paging Company
Limited (APG)
Introduction
Shinawatra Paging Co Ltd., concessionnaire of the business on distribution and
service of pager under the name of PHONELINK, having the headquarters at
Shinawatra building, Tower 2, No. 1291/1 Phaholyothin Road, Sam Sen Nai
sub-district, Phayathai district, Bangkok Metropolis 10400, Telephone
# 299-6444, Fax # 299-6446, would like to report on preparation for readiness
to support the Y2K problem No. 4, which the information ended on April 15,1999.
Problem Solving during the past period.
1.Main Computer System (152)
1.1 Paging System
+ Network Operating System, File Servers and 152 Applications for both BKK
centers are Y2K compliance.
+ Paging System (152) for upcountry offices have been upgraded in some
locations and expected to finish all in May 1999.
1.2 Business Application System (BAS)
+ Backup server has been implemented and tested to be Y2K compliance.
+ The production server has been patch on OS.
+ The BAS Application is already passed the Y2K test.
1.3 Invoice Printing System
+ Laser Printer using Siemen 2090 has no impact from the Y2K problem.
+ PC controlling the printing process has no impact from the Y2K problem.
+ Envelope Folding Machine has no impact from the Y2K problem.
1.4 Value Added Service
+ Stock Alert System has no impact from the Y2K problem.
+ The 153 System has no impact from the Y2K problem.
+ MoneyLink System has no impact from the Y2K problem.
+ Internet Service System has no impact from the Y2K problem.
+ Email Alert System has no impact from the Y2K problem.
+ CDROM Page System has no impact from the Y2K problem.
+ IVR System providing the automatic billing inquiry service has no impact
from the Y2K problem.
1.5 Network's equipment
+ Router Equipment have been upgraded the firmware to support Y2K.
+ Terminal Server of Annex Terminal Server was changed its firmware.
+ Satellite System of Acumen and Samart has no impact from the Y2K problem.
+ Ethernet Hub, Switching Hub, LAN Card, Modem and Multiplexer have no
impact from the Y2K problem.
+ Optic Mux has no impact from the Y2K problem.
1.6 Paging System
+ Glenayre 3000 XL (Version 5.02) have been tested and no problem found.
+ Glenayre 3000 Model M, S and ES (Version 5.01) have been tested and
implemented by setting the date backward and found no impact from Y2K.
+ C2000 has no impact from the Y2K problem.
2.Telephone Exchange Cabinet System
2.1 PABX Model Definity G3r4 and G3iV3 has no impact from the Y2K problem.
2.2 PABX Model Definity G3rV2 needs to be patched, anticipated to be
completely done in 23 April 1999.
2.3 PABX Model Panasonic KXT-1232 has no impact from the Y2K Problem.
2.4 CMS R3V2 have been set the date backward and find it works properly.
No impact from the date.
3.Electronic System
3.1 UPS
+ Emerson (Libert) has no impact on the Y2K problem
+ Comet (MGE) has no impact on the Y2K problem
+ Iwatec (Wartford) has no impact on the Y2K problem
+ Leonic (Leonic) has no impact on the Y2K problem
+ Powertronic (Shinabis) has no impact on the Y2K problem
+ Siemens (Watford) has no impact on the Y2K problem
+ Socomec (Unitrio) has no impact on the Y2K problem
3.2 Generator
+ Petbow (U-Gen) has no impact on the Y2K problem
+ Dale (Dale) has no impact on the Y2K problem
+ Thai-Gen (Thai-Gen) has no impact on the Y2K problem
+ Onan (Diethelm) has no impact on the Y2K problem
+ Cummins (Diethelm) has no impact on the Y2K problem
4.Office System
4.1 Computer
+ For hardware that can not running through year 2000, will be installed a
software or hardware card to help in role over year 2000.
+ OS and Software require the version upgrade, being in the process, and
are anticipated to be completely done by 30/04/1999 with the expected
cost of 850,000 baht.
4.2 Other office systems do not have the impact form the Y2K problem.
5.External Work Unit
5.1 The response from all related external work units are ready to tackle the
Y2K problem.
5.2 We co-operate to the related external work units in answering about our
Y2K readiness.
6.Contingency Plan
The Y2K committee started preparing the contingency plan into 3 parts.
6.1 Flow of the relate systems.
6.2 List of Y2K dream team included name and contact number of person who
response and concern to each system.
6.3 Plan in each system in case problem occurs.

8.Analysis and Explanation from Management
The preparation to handle the Y2K problem is now in the testing phase and
final implementation phase. The progress of the preparation is more than 90%
and will be on schedule to be completed within May 1999. The paid expense is
7,460,000 baht and it is expected the further expense of 850,000 baht.

We have already checked all the text and data present in this report form and
