Concurrently, the Company would like to clarify the operational result of this first quarter that the Company's net income in the first quarter of 2000 was Baht 1,090 Million while the year 1999 was Baht 436 Million or an increase by Baht 654 Million or 150% because; 1. The Company's total revenue increased from the first quarter of 1999 by Baht 1,557 Million or 40% because; 1.1 The Company's subscribers increased from 1,012,400 at the end of first quarter of 1999 to 1,336,200 at the end of the first quarter 2000 resulting the increase in Company's revenue from services and equipment rental by Baht 1,459 million or 38% while the cost of services and equipment rentals increased only Baht 809 Million or 33%. 1.2 The Company had net gain on exchange by Baht 97 Million in the first quarter of 2000 while realized net loss on exchange by Baht 71 Million in the first quarter of 1999. 2. The Company's total expenses increased by Baht 735 Million or 22% due to the increase in cost of services and equipment rentals. However, the percentage increase in revenue is greater than the percentage increase in cost. Additionally, the Company's interest expense decreased by Baht 144 Million or 53% due to the by prepayment of loans during 1999. 3. The Company's share of net profit in subsidiaries increased from the first quarter of 1999 by Baht 178 Million or 90% mainly due to the increase in share of net profit from Advanced Wireless Marketing Co.,Ltd. by Baht 188 Million or 113%. This increase came from the increase in number of mobile phone sales from 119,116 in the first quarter of 1999 to 172,295 in the first quarter of 2000.
